Vintage 2017 - bottled, barrelled & still on skins..

The vintage that keeps on going...

Syrah's are safely tucked away in barrel - Heathcote & Bendigo batches.

Pyrenees Nebbiolo is still on skins, over two months now but keen to see what another month or two treats it.

Bottled two wines the other day - Mataro Rosato from Southern Bendigo and Gewurztraminer from Macedon Ranges. These wines are looking great already and will be released in the Spring of 2017.

Vintage 2016 bottling.

Big time of year, bottling is... it's the end of vintage 2016.
Seems so long ago now when the fruit first came in...
But here we are, at the end - and it's so satisfying to have these wines safely tucked away in bottle.

The Earthside Syrah will be a cracker for sure. Deep, dark, complex, structured. An elegant beast.
The Mataro a fruitier, livelier wine, with soft elegant tannins straight off the bat.

Bring on winter 2017, when these wines will be sure to be hitting their straps. Stay posted.

Heathcote.

Yesterday I took a drive up to Heathcote to catch up with my mate Gerard Kennedy, who I met at uni. Gerard's family own a stunning vineyard not far from Colbinabbin, north of Heathcote township. The first vines were planted in 2002 on an east facing slope of the Mt Camel range. The vines are in immaculate condition with some beautiful bunches of syrah about 1 week way from verasion. Very excited to be working with these guys, who are obviously very professional and passionate growers. The fruit I receive is destined to become the 'Farside' Syrah, a sibling wine to the 'Earthside' Syrah. With differing vineyard sites being the most obvious difference between the two wines, I'm also looking at varying up things in the winery to create two distinctly different styles of Syrah. Bring on vintage 2017!

The First Release - Vintage 2015 - now available.

It's here. They're ready. Get on it.

Labels went on last Friday, all packed away in boxes, and we're now ready to get the wines out there. Can't wait to show these wines off.

A big thank you to everyone in involved with the first vintage of Musk Lane.
My wonderful fiancee Simone for everything that you do.
My best mate Rohan, for his brilliant work on the labels.
My wonderful family who invested in the first vintage - making it all possible.
My mentor and friend Cameron Leith for your support and wisdom.

I look forward to sharing these wines with you, meeting new friends and many more vintages to come.

I do hope you enjoy them.

Cheers.

Brendan

Vintage 2015 Wine Release

We've had a look at the wines recently and were quite pleased with how they're coming along. Not ready yet, but not far off either. Come July/August we should be looking good.
